Just Hobart Being Hobart

Walking through town the other day I spotted this sign:

cafe ad displaying a baby

To be clear, it is an advertisement for a cafe. This might not be immediately apparent due to the image of a small baby taking over the majority of the sign. Don’t get me wrong, I want to gobble up babies as much as the next overly clucky aunty. I once made my nephew cry by suggesting that he would be delicious baked into a pie with peas and corn. However, unlike this particular cafe, I have the sense to realise that comparing babies to food might not be the best marketing strategy. After all, it really isn’t acceptable to want to eat babies.

In the words of the indomitable Willy Wonka, “That is called cannibalism, my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies.”

This is my 100th post on Confessions of a Stuffed Olive. I suspect I may have wasted the moment considering the pros and cons of comparing tiny humans to food.

…Now I’m hungry.
